Team Fortress 2 features nine distinct classes, categorized into three combat roles: offensive, defensive, and support. However, players can adapt these classes to suit their preferred strategies, allowing for versatile gameplay.
The offensive classes—Scout, Soldier, and Pyro—are designed for attacking and capturing key points on the map. These classes excel in mobility: the Scout can quickly capture objectives, the Soldier wields a powerful Rocket Launcher, and the Pyro unleashes fiery chaos with their weapons, offering an optimal balance between speed and health.
Defensive classes—Demoman, Heavy, and Engineer—are built to repel enemies and safeguard crucial points. These classes boast the highest firepower, utilizing weapons like stickybombs and Sentry Guns to fortify their positions.
The support classes—Medic, Sniper, and Spy—offer essential backup and special abilities to enhance the effectiveness of offensive and defensive roles. They play a vital role in shifting the game’s balance, with the Medic delivering healing, the Sniper taking out critical targets, and the Spy infiltrating enemy lines.
Additionally, there is a Random role that automatically selects one of the nine classes, and a subclass known as the Demoknight, which significantly alters the playstyle of the Demoman class.
